    Sister Rita came to know the Sisters of Mercy as a child and joined the community in Detroit, Michigan, on September 7, 1949. On August 16, 1955, she made perpetual vows as a Sister of Mercy.

  • Sister Mary Cyrilla Jegla

    Sister Mary Cyrilla joined the Sisters of Mercy in Detroit, Michigan, in 1950 and made final vows on August 16, 1956. Her early years of ministry were in education, serving as a teacher and principal in several parochial schools.

    Sister Patricia, an educator who strove for social justice, came to know the Sisters of Mercy as an English teacher at Bishop Quigley High School in Buffalo, New York. Three years later, she entered the Sisters of Mercy in Buffalo.

    A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Sister Mary Ellen was a Sister of Mercy for 72 years. She ministered in education, pastoral care and mission integration, most recently as a sister chaplain at Mercy Health Care System in Chesterfield, Missouri.
