Sister Irene Holowesko
Entered: September 8, 1952 – Madison, Connecticut
Current Ministry: Volunteer; prayer ministry
Motto: Jesus is silent
After many happy years in education, a stint in finance, and the privilege of working in health care administration on behalf of my sisters, I've "retired" to wonderful years of community service and other endeavors. Some of these have been brief, some part-time, others have required a lot of time and energy; some have been paid positions, some volunteer. All have been interesting and rewarding, however, and, I hope, a service to others.
I also had, during these "retirement" years, the opportunity to spend time with Sister Marie Ahern before she passed away, at her ministry at H.O.M.E. (Homeworkers Organized for More Employment) in Maine, and to travel with her to Guatemala. I have also been able to travel with family to Poland. There is life after retirement! I am grateful to God, my family, my Community, my friends, and all the wonderful people with whom I have lived and worked.
