Sister Irene M. Nerney
Entered: February 2, 1953 – Cumberland, Rhode Island
Current Ministry: Special gifts officer; pastoral assistant
Motto: To do always the things that please Him
Mercy called, and I answered, and she has led me down paths of peace, doubt, entering the unknown, love, happiness, difficult moments, wonder, awe, laughter, questions. But above all she has been constant, the constant companion on this journey, ever present, ever mindful, always with the same patient, calm call. She has watched, she has waited, she has challenged, and asked for the risk. She has taught me much, I have listened, I have learned, I have walked the walk, never alone, as she was never beyond reach. It is "in her name" that I stand here today, 65 years of living, loving, hoping, dreaming, and open to the "whatever" life gifts me with each day.
