Sister Jane Frances Matte

As I reflect over the past 95 years of my life, I am most grateful for my 75 years as a Sister of Mercy and a daughter of our founder, Catherine McAuley. My life has been a very fulfilling one, both in active ministry and retirement. I am grateful to the Community for my wonderful education that prepared me to teach at the elementary and high school levels.

When I retired from teaching, I took the opportunity to start a second career in ministry by visiting patients in our local hospital and nursing home, and felt privileged to bring them Holy Communion. Now in my "elder years," and despite my physical limitations, I try to be as independent as possible.
