Sister Marion Paul Lillis
Entered: December 8, 1942 – West Hartford, Connecticut
Current Ministry: Prayer ministry
Motto: For me to live is Christ
When visiting children in St. Raphael Hospital (now part of Yale New Haven Hospital), I became convinced that I should become a teacher rather than a nurse. This led to my entrance into the Sisters of Mercy, then primarily a teaching order.
Most of my 75 years were spent in a classroom—very happy days, particularly with junior high students. I also worked at the School for the Deaf—a joy—and the Mercy Reading Clinic.
Upon my retirement, I had more time for visiting the sick and elderly as well as for volunteering at Leeway, a nursing facility for HIV/AIDS patients.
