Sister M. Stella Maris WareSister Stella Maris Ware

75-year Jubilarian

Entered: September 24, 1942  Portland, Maine

Current Ministry: Prayer ministry

Motto: Never count the cost

Sister Stella Maris went home to God on January 17, 2018.

Sister Stella Maris taught mostly primary grades—often multiple grades in one room in Maine's smaller schools—for 39 years. She loved all children and had a deep fondness for the Passamaquoddy children of Pleasant Point and Peter Dana Point. In later years, she served her sisters in the Motherhouse infirmary, never counting the cost. She was a champion housekeeper, so was never at a loss of ways to assist in upkeep of the Motherhouse. A comment she made not long ago remains true: "Many sisters have been and still are such an example to me. I've learned to see the wonder of the graces we have all received."
