60-year Jubilarian

Entered: September 8, 1960 – Cumberland, Rhode Island

Current Ministry: Ministry of Prayer and Presence

When I entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1960, I didn’t know what to expect and I am sure none of us did.  It has been 60 years trying to  inculcate Mercy values into my ministries of education in the wide meaning of this word.  Most of my years were spent in the classroom of middle schoolers teaching Math and Computers.  I was always on the lookout to purchase little things to make Math come alive for the students. I also enjoyed working on a farm for a time and grew to love the earth and all that it gives us.  I was especially happy when the care of earth became one of our critical concerns.  Volunteering at the Wardrobe was a special joy because I enjoyed meeting and helping God’s people in a different and very practical way..  My ministry now of prayer and presence at Catholic Memorial gives me a chance to relate to others in various ways.  I believe very much in the motto I chose so many years ago REAL LIFE IS FAITH and it has guided my decisions and my actions.  I thank my family and the Sisters of Mercy who have companioned me on my journey of faith..
