Sister Faith (Barbara) Harding
Entered: September 8, 1950 – Cumberland, Rhode Island
Current Ministry: Ministry of Prayer and Presence
Motto: I have come to serve
As I reflect over the past 70 years in Mercy, it is unbelievable that I would be asked to assume such different positions in education. I suppose that is the reason for my religious name Faith! My experiences as librarians and teacher in the elementary and high school were filled with wonderful memories. Eventually, I was asked to assume additional administrative positions, as principal of a co-ed high school for 18 years and later as an assistant principal of an all-girls academy for 15 years.
These ministries gave me the opportunity to influence our young women and men and hopefully instill "Mercy values" as the students matured and become decision-makers themselves. This phase of my life was indeed challenging but rewarding, to know that our Mercy charism was being carried out with faithfulness. My work was put on hold for a few years with a bout with cancer. Presently I continue to carry out our mission of Mercy in a senior housing complex where love and respect are prevalent.
