Sister Margaret Ann Mathis
Entered: August 28, 1960 – Madison, Connecticut
Current Ministry: Ministry of Prayer and Presence
Motto: God is Love
My life as a Sister of Mercy has provided me with many experiences in life I would not have had otherwise. I received a college education and became a registered nurse; please know I hated school and studying. I ministered as a nurse at our Home for Unwed Mothers and provided labor, delivery and newborn care. My next mission was at Saint Mary Home, followed by several years at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, Connecticut. I was then called to Mercyknoll to minister to our sisters, which was followed by 26 years as coordinator of health for our sisters.
My focus for too many years was work. Needless to say my life of service certainly interfered with my ability to participate in many of the daily community functions of our life. But since retirement two years ago, I have been fast catching up with many of the services, programs and personal enrichments that enhance my life as a Sister of Mercy.
