Sister Mary Alice SynkeweczSister Mary Alice Synkewecz

60-year Jubilarian

Entered: August 8, 1960 – Madison, Connecticut

Current Ministry: Boards; Institute and Local Justice Advocacy Work

Motto: Fiat & Magnificat (Behold, I am a handmaid of the Lord)

My journey in Mercy has been grace-filled with opportunities to live the Mercy charism in community and ministry. Ministry and service opened my eyes and heart to walk, share life and learn with persons living on the margins of society.

Guided by the “preferential option for the poor,” I am grateful to all who have touched my life and have challenged me: as an elementary school teacher; a missionary in San Pedro Sula, Honduras; a pastoral team minister in inner-city parishes; a member of the formation team; a leader of my religious community and as a justice, peace and advocacy worker.

Collaboration with others in the works of Mercy has been a special gift. The “signs of the times” continue to call in new and challenging ways!
