Sister Kathleen McClelland, RSM (Albertine)

60-year Jubilarian

Entered: September 8, 1958 - Chicago, Illinois

Current Ministry: Vocation Minister

Motto: Jesus

This 60th Jubilee is a fitting time to reflect on my life. I entered the Sisters of Mercy after high school, not really expecting to stay. I’m glad God laughed at my plans because my life has been fulfilling beyond anything I could have imagined.

I was in the first band to make perpetual profession in the new habit. After professing our vows, instead of prostrating to symbolize our death to the world, we turned to the altar with arms extended back and said: “Here I am, Lord, do with me what you will….” And then we faced the people with arms extended backward and said: “Here I am to serve the People of God….” I’ve tried to live those words.

My life has included a wonderful family, true friends, supportive sisters to live with, good people to minister with and with whom to share this journey, rich experiences, good health and Jesus at my side. I have been extremely blessed.

Thank you to all who have been a part of my life.
