Motto: Life to me is Christ

From the time that I was 10 years old, I knew I was going to be a Sister. Later in my high school years I had a plan to be a missionary in Peru. However, at the end of high school, I got cold feet and joined the workforce in Dublin, Ireland. But this inner yearning for something "more" gave me no rest.

I had joined a group of other young people doing works of mercy in Dublin's inner city on some weekends or evenings. But after two years I surrendered to God's mysterious call and arrived in Auburn in 1966 after the Second Vatican Council. I realized as I was introduced to Catherine McAuley's life, that my two years in Dublin had nurtured my vocation to service.

My years of mercy ministry were through elementary school education and administration, formation ministry, community leadership, parish and diocesan ministries, and campus administration. I was blessed with wonderful co-workers, mentors and companions who taught me much by the witness of their lives and their generous sharing.

As I look back over fifty years in Mercy, I am filled with gratitude to God for this gift of vocation. I was blessed to grow up in a faith-filled family that nurtured a sense of the sacred in all life and nature. My life in community has been a rich blessing of joys, struggles and opportunities for growth and enrichment. As I continue to be inspired by my motto, Life to me is Christ, I know my grounding has always been in Christ Jesus. May He continue to clothe me with his mercy!
