A Prayer for Comfort and Consolation

April 27, 2020

O God of Comfort

Your daughter, Catherine McAuley, wrote to her sisters and reminded them that “comfort comes soon after a well-received trial.”

During this time of worldwide trial, help us accept our daily trials in the spirit of following you. Because of your unconditional love for us, we know that you will not abandon us or leave us captive to our fears.

May we welcome your presence and receive you with open hearts even as you may come disguised as a stranger.

May our daily engagement with you in the scriptures and by our spiritual communion keep our hearts burning with love.

Stay with us that your comfort may come through us to those whose hearts are broken with grief and loss.
