She received the Cor Misericordiae Award at the Omaha Marriott Downtown at the Capital District. Sister Johanna was president of Mercy High School from 1988-2009 and will celebrate her 60th jubilee as a Sister of Mercy in 2020.
During her tenure, Johanna raised over $13 million in three different capital campaigns, formalized the negotiated tuition program and helped enrollment grow to nearly 390 students. • She developed a Minority Enrollment Initiative to recruit minority girls more aggressively, with 19 percent diverse enrollment during her tenure. She increased faculty salaries, upgraded computers and other equipment, while continuing to expand fundraising to support tuition assistance. She increased the endowment and led renovations in the building, including the addition of the gym, classrooms, parking lot and renovation of the chapel and library.
